SAP Cloud Platform

SAP Cloud Platform (SAP HCP) is SAP’s platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offering.

In its core it provides several open technologies, like Java, server side JavaScript (XS Engine) or HTML5, ready to be used to fulfill whatever requirements may raise in today’s IT world.

On top of that a steadily growing portfolio of additional services is part of the platform: persistency services based on SAP’s unique in-memory database SAP HANA, Git version control, CloudFoundry integration or the SAP Web IDE – to name just a few.

Substantial parts of this platform are based on well established, open standards, like REST, OAuth2 and OData, which makes it simple to embed it into complex web-, mobile-, integration- or IoT- (SAP and non-SAP) scenarios or to build those from scratch with ease.

Not only bigger projects, also small apps or little complementary features can be realized on the platform supported by powerful tools coming with it.
The  SAP Cloud Portal Service, to mention one of these tools, makes it pretty easy to create web portals for employees, customers and partners.
To complete the picture, this PaaS offering is even connected to a marketplace for cloud applications, introducing an additional source or sales channel for products made on and for SAP Cloud Platform.

SAP’s cloud platform offering integrates seamlessly with SAP and non-SAP systems (on-premise and on-demand respectively) at the same time. Though it offers just two core runtimes (Java and server side JavaScript) it will become heavily extensible through CloudFoundry support soon – a public beta version of this service is available already today. SAP offers a big variety of tools and services to simplify and optimize the cloud development and lifecycle management processes and the SAP Web IDE even turns the platform into the main development environment for SAPUI5 and Fiori user interfaces.

Camelot offers dedicated architectural skills and development expertise related to SAP Cloud Platform, open source and web technologies.
