Innovative Demand-Driven Rhythm Wheel approach enables flexible production planning
Mannheim, 11/29/2018 The Flint Group, a globally leading specialist for the printing and packaging industry, has taken its production planning to a new level. With the introduction of the Demand-Driven Rhythm Wheel (DDRWP) approach and support from Camelot Innovative Technologies Lab (Camelot ITLab), Flint is now able to react to demand fluctuations in a flexible and agile way and to be a reliable partner for its customers also in the future.
The Flint Group, based in Luxembourg, has made its mission to be the world’s best-performing supplier to the printing and packaging industry through high value creation, consistent quality and constant innovations. However, an increasingly complex and uncertain market environment made it difficult to accurately predict market requirements. This had resulted in higher than expected inventory levels to ensure customer demand could be met.
Innovative concept with customized solution
The implementation of cyclic production planning with the Demand-Driven Rhythm Wheel approach developed by the CAMELOT Group, and the related SAP-based software solution Camelot Demand-Driven LEAN Planning Suite for SAP (DDRWP module) in the production site in Willstätt are now providing help. As a result, the Flint Group is especially delighted by the reduced working capital and considerably shorter lead times. “In Camelot, we have found a partner that has not only efficiently supported us in the area of Demand-Driven production planning with outstanding conceptual competence, but has also provided the right software solution on the basis of SAP,” commented Dr. Thomas Zwez, Vice President Operations & Site Head Willstätt at the Flint Group concerning the working relationship with Camelot.
The successful introduction of DDRWP in the biggest Flint production site for flexographic printing products in Willstätt is part of a larger project of the Flint Group for the implementation of highly-efficient and integrated sales and operations planning processes, and the first step on the way to a future-oriented “Demand-Driven” planning approach.
Demand-Driven Rhythm Wheel Planning
The Demand-Driven LEAN Planning Suite from Camelot is the first SAP-based software suite worldwide for Demand-Driven Supply Chain Management that has been certified by both SAP as well as the Demand Driven Institute (DDI), the global authority for the “Demand-Driven” methodology. The DDRWP module enhances SAP SCM and SAP S/4HANA systems with functionalities for smooth, product-flow-based production planning.
