Pump manufacturer improves delivery compliance with support from Camelot ITLab

Dortmund, July 4, 2012 ---- Wilo, a leading manufacturer of pumps and pump systems, has now completed its international rollout of SAP Sales and Demand Planning. Deploying the two components SAP SCM Demand Planning (DP) and Supply Network Planning (SNP) enabled planning processes to be integrated across the Group as well as extensively automated. Wilo is now in a position to more accurately forecast product demand and better align production planning to meet said demand. The time needed for planning has also decreased considerably. This rollout was supported by IT consulting firm Camelot ITLab.

“We’ve installed SAP Sales and Demand Planning in 49 countries around the world,” says project owner Detlev Eckhard, Director Demand & Supply at Wilo. “This means that the majority of our pump and pump systems sales are now being managed using this new approach to planning.”SAP SCM DP’s automatic forecast reduces the need for manual data entry and so lessens related risks. Additionally, SAP SNP lets Wilo determine inventory levels at its distribution companies and synchronize this with current demand.

“During the rollout, it was a real challenge to integrate the SAP planning solution into an extremely heterogeneous environment of SAP ECC and Microsoft applications,” Mr. Eckhard adds. “Our project partner Camelot ITLab dealt with these requirements using their comprehensive SAP and technological know-how, and prepared the Wilo team to handle implementation and rollout through training and knowledge transfer.”Camelot ITLab had previously supported Wilo as part of an overarching process and IT consulting project to design the organization and roles for the new SAP Sales and Demand Planning solution.

“The successful completion of this global rollout at Wilo is a milestone for our company,” says Mario Baldi, Managing Director at Camelot ITLab. “We implemented our SCM expertise in a groundbreaking SAP planning project for a leading pump manufacturer.”
